“They don’t hand out checks at the quarter pole…” the late, great Dale Baird used to tell me that ALL THE TIME!  Dont Mind A Dime set the pace throughout Sunday’s Soaring Softly (GIII) at AQU, but when the money was on the line, La Canada Racehorses‘ True Dreamer went by the field like a sliver streak, winning by a nose, while stopping the clock at 1:09.4 for the six furlongs.  The turf course was listed as Good.  Asgar’s Dont Mind A Dime did take the second spot, three-quarters of a length in front of Humidity Factor, from the Fractious barn, then another three-quarters of a length to Smokey Stover’s Algondonite in fourth.  Just two lengths covered the field of five, and Nickle And Dime was scratched.
