Turf Sprinters On the Menu in Shakertown

RACE   1 KEE 4/9/2016  Post Time 6:05PM
Shakertown (GII)
$200.000   4YO&Up   5 1/2f  Turf

1
Mr Utah  Big Jd Racing  Hernandez B J Jr     7/1 123

Was sent packing for $10.000 and has been nothing but lights-out since.  Got the job done at GP in the Silk Run making it three in a row with a pair of those coming for the new connections.  He’s been close in a few other stakes so it’s not like he’s reinvented himself – he can run.

2
 Wealth Manager  Mb Stables  Gallardo A A      6/1 123

Got back to his winning ways at SA on the down-hill last out, and he has a win and a second from this two seasonal starts.  He was a near miss third in the Woodford (GIII) which is the fall race here of the same distance, so you know he like the course.

3
Quasi Normal  Night Rider Stables  Clark K D      5/1 123

Has been a handful in all of his recent starts sans the BC Day race here which can certainly be excused.  He has tired late in a couple of efforts over this strip, so is it that he doesn’t like it here or just a conincidence?

4
Dogs Dragon  Maxmillion Farm  Mena M     8/1 123

He’s been close in his two seasonal starts but has very little to show for it as far as earnings are considered.  Beaten a length in both races for a fourth and a fifth aren’t exactly what the barn would be looking for.  Is this a spot to get back on track?

5
Jubilant Outburst  Santan Stables  Carmouche K     4/1 123

Looked good taking the GP Turf Sprint on a soggy SoFla course in his most recent outing.  Drew away late with ease and that seems to be the way he runs on soggy grass.  Look for the barn to be doing a rain-dance here this afternoon.

6
 Gullis Grenade  Stald Gullis  Torres F C      8/1 123

He’s spent most of the winter down in LA and was solid v. Alw horses down at the FG.  He’s another that seems to like a wet surface and may be hoping that the skies open up here in Lexington.  He’s going to need every edge he can get to be part of this one.

7
Spanish Destroyer  Emerald Racing Inc  Pedroza M A      3/1 123

The old boy is just as tough as ever although he did get a little bit tired late when third in the Silks Run at GP last out.  He won the Woodford (GIII) here and just missed in the BC Turf Sprint (GI) so it sure does look like this should be a place for him to show his best.

8
Fire In The Sky  Hambletonian Stable  Alvarado R Jr      9/1 123

Already four-for-four this year and had five wins last season, so he certainly know how to pose for the camera.  He hasn’t been racing with this type of horses, but it sure is hard not to at least give him a hard look as they head to the gate for this one.
