Caribbean Classic
GP Race #11 1 1/8m Dirt Stake
Purse $300.000 For Three Year Olds.
1 Southern Fame Mb Stables Beschizza A
This is one of those that its hard to get a line on. Working low 1.36’s is good enough to make him a stakes horse but he has been beaten in his last four races at lower grade which suggests he is lacking desire. Now the trouble is what is lower grade? With little class structure in place a one length second in an allowance can be as good as a one length second in a grade one so thats where it gets sticky. He gets a handy draw compared to the best horses in the race and has Mb Stables in his camp so its easy to see him running a big race.
2 Shadowing Fractious Franco M
Bought for $85.000 that looked a generous price considering his battling form at lower levels. He won his last start nicely though and has worked well enough to be a threat from this perfect draw.
3 Malibu Moon D J C Racing Stables Bejarano R
On paper his form looks a bit up and down but the only really big blip on his form was when drawn wide in the Dandy so forgiving that he looks to be a solid chance. His win from the stalk in the Fayette last time was very good and this draw puts him in with a great chance of repeating that effort. The 1.36 flat work puts him right in with a winning chance.
4 Charlemagnes Command John Henry Talamo J
Well beaten in the Fayette its hard to see him making up that against Malibu Moon but his form prior to that was solid enough and guess what he has a 1.36 flat work too so anything can happen, this is HRP after all.
5 Twin Towers Smokey Stover Velazquez J
In real life this horse would start long odds on. The BC Classic winner from a tough draw and the Haskell winner before that you would think he only has to turn up to win as no runner in this field could have got anywhere near making the BC field let alone winning. But this is HRP and nothing is certain. The BC can be tough to get over for a horse and lets not forget that prior to the Classic win he was beaten in a grade three.
6 Market Value Nakamura Stables Jaramillo E
This is a tough consistent sort who if nothing more will give you an honest run for your money. Beaten a nose in the BC Derby last time getting a speed rating of 98 puts him right in among a field that is typically close.
7 Instagooglefacetweet Threshold Gaffalione
The winner of the BC Marathon he is working pretty much like anything else and looks to have found a good vein of form so you have to take a look at him. The wide draw will be the big problem but as we know sometimes it can help but we wont know that until after the race.
SUMMARY
If this was a real life race the BC winner would be 1/10 to win this but here we have a race where everything is working the same so it opens up as usual the possibility than anything can win. Stick your pin in r take the longest odds and you will get a run for your money.
