Two Fillies Look to Have a Sweet Season in Sweet Life Stakes

Sweet Life Stakes – Grade III
Race #7 6 1/2f Turf Graded Stake
Purse $100.000 For Fillies Three Years Old.

1       Tequa       Arindel         Espinoza V

The winner of three from five this is her biggest test so far and she could easily be up to it from the ace draw. With all her victories at five furlongs or less she clearly has speed to burn and she has shown she has some class with a win in The Colleen Stakes. A victory at TUP last time may not seem like grade three winning form but all the big stables are taking their horses there these days and the level of racing has been far above the fair level so that may not be a factor. A chance to shine and the draw to do it from.

2    Creepy Authority         Smokey Stover         Frey K

The winner of three in a row in smart times and hailing from one of the top stables from the perfect draw….that is probably enough to make her favorite to win here. Yet to show it at stakes level and that is the big question mark but if she has been blessed with the class gene she must be a big chance.

3      Grand Palace      Big Guns Stables        Hernandez J J

Looked pretty good when winning on debut but has struggled since as some debut winners can. She will be showing late here so will need some luck but if the pace is hot and the closer’s get a chance she may just sneak a place.

4       Incendiary       Mb Stables        Pyfer J

With no penalties in this race this filly comes here with tremendous credentials and is drawn well enough to make her presence felt. The winner of the Schuylerville and the Adirondack she is clearly the class filly in the race and with a one from one turf record and the champion trainer she looks like the winner.

5    Amy Is Shameful      La Canada Racehorses     Desormeaux K J

As if a grade two winner without a penalty looks good how about a BC winner without a penalty in a grade three. Here we have the BC Juvenile Sprint winner who has racked up a couple hundred shy of 1K in prize money. Tried at a mile last time she didn’t see it out so a return to sprinting looks right up her alley. Must be a big chance.

6      Atomic Litta        Titania Farm         Rispoli U

She was two from two when failing on the dirt last time but her win previously at MTH looks really solid and she must go into the hopper as a chance for place money. I am not sure she is up to beating the two principals here but is worth putting into the exotic bets to spice up the Trifectas.

7     To The Beach           Arindel           Baze T C

Took a while to get going but has looked good winning her last two. Training well she could well be up to a race like this but faces a tough field here from a difficult draw and she may find it all too much.

8      Make An Impact      Maxmillion Farm       Fukumoto D

Her first race on turf after three efforts on the dirt which included a stakes win in the LCD Lassie. When the turf king sends a horse for its first run on the turf you have to sit up and take notice but with this draw she will be hard pushed to beat the top two.

9       Fear Authority      Rock Creek     Centeno A

The car park is punishment for this stable going for a punt against the odds. A nice progressive filly but this may come a bit soon for her especially when the draw is likely to put her out the back early on. One worth watching for future races but maybe not today.

SUMMARY

There really is a class and performance gap between Incendiary and Amy Is Shameful and the rest of this field. Granted there isn’t such a gap in work times but with decent draws it really does look the most obvious Exacta i have seen in recent months. Of the rest Creepy Authority and Make An Impact maybe the best to stick in for third.
