New Albany came away fastest but was quickly shuffled back to mid-pack, and there she stayed for half the race. At the head of the stretch, she swung to the outside and set her sights on the leaders. She took the lead in the shadow of the wire. Sandrine fought back gamely but couldn’t hold on and settled for second.
