GP Oaks – Grade 2 – $250.000
GP – 1 1/16 Mile – Dirt
For Fillies Three Years Old
April 1, 2023
Out of the clouds certainly describes Untidy’s winning performance in the GP Oaks. The gray filly was hard to miss on the track, running toward the rear of the field for the first six furlongs of the mile and a sixteenth. Around the turn for home, she swung about seven wide and ran down eight of her competitors in a rousing stretch run to nose out what must have been a surprised La Roo at the wire. The lion’s share of KYO points lands Untidy at second on the qualifying list with 120 points. La Roo moves up to fifth with 90 points.
Complete order of finish:
1 Untidy (Mb Stables) Rallied from the back of the field to win by a nose.
2 LaRoo (Our Athletes) Came from mid-pack to get up for second.
3 Atomic Woman (Arindel) Came from mid-pack to take third.
4 Toppifiant (Our Athletes) Led at every call but the last and finished fourth.
5 Acapulco Tradition (Smokey Stover) Stalked the pace, outrun in the stretch.
6 Be Exceptional (TwinTowersRacing) Never involved.
7 So Blitz (Asgar) Back of the pack most of the way; rallied to take seventh.
8 Fire Astiste (Alydar Stables) Fourth early but faded to eighth.
9 Power Ranking (LionKing Stables) Never a factor.
10 Puka Time (RNP Stables) Trailed throughout and beat just one horse.
11 Bourbom West Party (Mb Stables) Stalked the pace throughout, then faded badly.
Untidy is by Lil Pink Panther out of Play If Forward (Pinkman). The win brings her career earnings to an even $300.000 and makes her a solid contender for the KY Oaks first Friday in May. Congratulations to Untidy and Mb Stables!
