Upside Down Odds in Tam Stakes

The TAM Stakes – Grade III
1 1/16 Mile Turf Stake Purse $150.000 Open 4 Year Olds And Up.

1st Speedthriller, trained by Eastern Equine
The trainer and I were the only ones at the track to not be surprised by this win. Under a great ride from F Pennington the lightly raced four year old ran the stalk before going to the front and holding off the rest by a cheeky half length. The sky may be the limit now for this four year old who has now won three on the bounce and could easily keep on winning.

2nd Full Speed Ahead, trained by Night Rider Stables
Held back in the rear group until asked to make ground after halfway. He stayed on very willingly and ran a very nice seasonal debut. A grade three looks to be on his radar now and with some
very nice efforts so far in his career he looks like another good season is on the cards.

3rd Chapter In The Fog, trained by Maxmillion Farm
Thrown up onto the lead from the wide gate he set just an average pace but when he piled it on
after halfway the cracks began to show. He ran a respectable third in the end clinging on
gamely and will have pleased his owner with this seasonal debut.

4th Sinai Desert, trained by Blushing Meadows
Strangely he started favourite, which was made all the stranger by the winner starting at ninety
to one. However the market looked all wrong he ran an honest race to be a close fourth just missing
the long time leader with a late lunge.

5th Short Tempered
Was never put in the race after running a somewhat distant trail for much of the race and although
he ran on well he never got to the leaders. This was a dissapointing run after his good effort in
a grade two last time but i feel the tactics beat him today so he may not be entirely to fault.

6th Dreams Of Fire
Well beaten and looked outclassed.

SUMMARY.

With just one length covering the first four and the closers never getting into the race it will
be inetresting to see how the form of this race pans out. A good progressive winner though and i
suspect we will be seeing plenty more of him.
