Uzume continued her winning ways as she ran her current winning streak to three races with a nose victory over Sexy Angelina in the $100.000 Spring Fever Stakes at SA on Monday.  The winner completed six-furlongs in 1:09.61 to improve her record to 24-6-5-7 for earnings of $404.030.

Sexy Angelina was fastest away from the gate and she was two lengths in front of the duo of Uzume and Charley Trance; it was another two lengths back to the duo of Fioraia Ruler and Secrether as they ran at the back of the compact five-horse field.  Through an opening quarter and half in :22.80 and :45.56, respectively, the field held those same positions.

At the top of the lane, Sexy Angelina tried to increase her advantage; however, Uzume, saving all of the ground on the rail, began making a run on the leader’s inside.  Incrementally, Uzume ate into the advantage held by Sexy Angelina until the sixteenth pole when she finally reached the leader’s inside flank.  Secrether was gaining as well, but she would run out of time, a length short of the top two.  Uzume did not blow by her determined for, but instead, gradually wore her down and just got her nose in front on the wire in a head-bobbing finish.  Secrether settled for third while Fioraia Ruler and Charley Trance completed the order of finish.

Congratulations to Nakamura Stables and the mare, Uzume, on their win in a thrilling renewal of the Spring Fever at SA.
