Very Stacked Field for The Hirsch Stakes

The Hirsch Stakes – GI [BC]
                        DMR Race 7 1 1/16M – Dirt
                                Purse $300.000
Three Year Olds and Up Fillies And Mares

Ten fillies and mares will be lining up on the seaside oval to try and take down the Hirsch Stakes and earn a free spot in the Breeders Cup Filly and Mare Distaff. It’s a very stacked race from top to bottom with multiple grade one winners lining up in the gate. Let’s take a look at this stacked field.

1. Chase (16-5-3-2 $531.930), trained by Smoke Stover

A grade one winner coming out of the Smokey Stover barn for the first time after a one thousand dollar purchase was made for her after she won the Beholder Mile. She comes right back in here in another grade one and she looks like will be tough once again and has a good chance.

2. Forgotten Past (14-5-3-1 $631.650), trained by Mb Stables

Another grade one winner in the field that is coming from the champion trainer Mb Stables. She won the grade one Zenyatta last year and then ran a not so great eighth in the Breeders Cup Distaff. She did win the Doubledogdare this year so she still has something left in tank but will need to run big.

3. Viking Vania (15-6-5-1 $2342.410), trained by Delta Farms

Once again we come across a grade one winner and this may be the most accomplished one of the field. She won last years Breeders Cup Distaff by a head over Whispering Nurse. She won the HOU Ladies Classic this year but has been winless since then. If she runs back to the Breeders Cup race she can win easily.

4. Molly Magne (12-4-2-1 $438.760), trained by Gdp Inc

One of the three three year old fillies in the race she is coming off of an impressive win in the Mother Goose last out. She won by two lengths that day and really pretty much ran the race of her life up to this point in her career. She is going to have to repeat that performance to have any shot in here.

5. Therapy (20-3-3-3 $186.330), trained by TwinTowers Racing

The least accomplished runner by earnings out of the older fillies and mates is coming off of a seventh place finish in the grade one Phipps last time and that is where most of them are coming from. She needs to improve off of that last start tremendously to even have a chance to win.

6. Dirty Deeds (26-10-5-2 $2,183.060), trained by Aer Stables

This big mare from Aer Stables barn has been very consistent this year more even running out of the top three yet this year. She looks very tough to beat and will definitely be one of the main contenders if Aer Stables has her ready to go. She is one of the favorites and my second choice.

7. Enoughs Enough (7-4-0-0 $356.400), trained by Mb Stables

The second three year old fully we come across and also the second Mb Stables runner we come across is another graded stakes winner. She won the Summertime Oaks last out by a quarter of a length and I think she could have a chance in here. She will have to run a very big race though to win.

8. Ghost Havoc (10-2-1-4 $175.520), trained by D J C Racing Stables

The third and final fully we come across is also the least accomplished by earnings in the field and she comes out of the wizard D J C Racing Stables barn. This will be her first start for the wizard and he has jumped right in there with the wolves. She will have to run a career best to win.

9. Wicked Heat (27-10-5-2 $3,358.980), trained by Mb Stables

The most accomplished in the field on earnings is this five year old mare by her trainers sire Commanding. She has won multiple graded stakes on both dirt and turf and has ran good in most of her races. She needs to get back to her old self but if she does watch out cause she’ll be tough to beat.

10. Shake It Off (22-7-3-6 $2,393.600), trained by Our Athletes

The final runner we come to is also a grade one winner in her life and has a decent shot to win even from that outside post she has. She ran second against the boys in the CT Classic this year but didn’t run so hot last time in the grade one Phipps. She definitely has a chance if the post doesn’t hurt too much.

Summary

Well this is obviously a very very stacked field of fillies and mares and I honestly think every single one of the ten has a legitimate chance to win. My top pick will be Viking Vania with Dirty Deeds and Wicked Heat right behind her. Good luck to everyone in the race and let’s hope doe an exciting race.
