Wahpekute Sioux Keeps the Champagne Flowing in The PIM Special

The PIM Special – Grade III
1 3/16 Mile Dirt Stake Purse $250.000 Open 3 Year Olds And Up.

1st Wahpekute Sioux Mb Stables Moore R L

In ten months this four-year-old has only managed a win in an allowance at TAM, but cometh the hour cometh the man and today the trainer’s horses seem to be running with an extra leg. Running from a wide gate he managed a dream trip to get up by a head in a driving finish and return to the winner’s enclosure. His last three starts have looked pretty good and to be fair to him he is pretty consistent, so he will always be a force in these types of races.

2nd Berlin The Sidley Stud Velazquez J R

In a race dominated by the wide gates, I thought this six-year-old had pinched enough of a break to win this but was collared in the shadows of the post in the end. He is in great form at the moment, but nothing was beating Mb today, so whilst he could only manage second, I wouldn’t write him off for the rest of the year.

3rd Angle Of Attack Luz International Luzzi L J

He had won four in a row leading into this race but for some reason the race engine or the trainer wanted him to go way back off the pace today and he just couldn’t make up that sort of ground at the end without wings. He got pretty close at the line, and he certainly looks like a five-year-old that has a good few wins still in him.

4th Colombia Night Rider Stables Carmouche K

Three of the widest draws filled the first four places here and this one came from the back to end up just a length off them at the end. His form is a bit up and down but if he can find some consistency there is no reason why he won’t win a decent race by the end of the year.
