1 OP Whitmore Stakes (GIII)
$250.000 4yo&Up 6f Dirt 122lbs
No added weight for previous wins helps to make the field a bit saltier, and we did get a salty field of nine for the Whitmore Stakes (GIII), a six-furlong dash for the older sprinters. We have some very accomplished horses and I’m probably going to get some words for my odd/choices/comments, but that’s what we are here for. I think the experiment of Chisel to the classic distance was a one-and-done, now back at his preferred sprinting… and if he brings his best, this could be all about him.
Electric looked sharp winning the Toboggan in his ’25 debut, so let’s include him in the viewfinder of this one. He may be more accomplished as a miler, or even prefer the seven-panel distance, but his late turn of foot could be a big factor today. A repeat of that win will make him a key horse.
I’m going to give I Want It All a shot here… one thing for sure, the barn cannot complain about the ride. He’s been out of action since that dull effort in the Malibu (GI), but if he runs back to that win at FG, he could be tough here. It’s a deep field, and this one may need a race, but his best would put him in the thick of it, when they run down the lane.
