Marathon Turf Males will be our flavor for the Connally BC Turf (GIII), a mile and a half test on the lawn, here at HOU, and a field of nine are set to go in this one. It’s an interesting cast with some big money horses, some up-and-comers and a real puzzle to put together from a handicapping point of view. I’ll look for Chagrin Falls to run a big one today… It’s his first start since that eighth in the BC Mile (GI) where he did close some ground late, as the 7yo had a banner year at the advanced (here) age of six. Four wins and over $1.3k in earnings, the question is, can he keep that going? Another classy rascal is Penal Hockey Party, that one with only a single win last year, but still put over $1.2k in the bank. He loves to go long, so this is exactly where they want him to be. Neds Influence will get the third spot, and also checks off the classy type box. He pressed the pace in the BC Turf (GI) only to fall apart down the lane, but I think he comes back from that and runs a much better race today. This looks like a good one, so grab a wobble-pop and lets get down to the rail to take this one in.
