5 SA Astra Stakes 
$100.000 4yo&Up F&M 1 1/16m Turf 123lbs +penalties
Down the hill and around we go… its marathon matrons set to go a mile and a half, here in SoCal, and we look at the field for the Astra Stakes. There’s a bit of everything in this small field, but I’m going with two proven distance runners… let’s give Nijinsky the nod, coming off of that near miss in the Waya (GIII) at AQU. She’s enjoyed the going since beginning the longer distances and was close in her two recent turf tries. Another that really seems to like the distance is Lousiana Woo… she didn’t win last season, but had a pair of seconds, both at a route of ground. She was third last out at GP going a mile and three-eighths vs. similar, so this seems to be a spot where she can make her presence known.
