The Gallorette Stakes (Grade 3)- $150.000 Purse
PIM- For Fillies and Mares Three Years Old and Upward
One Mile and One Sixteenth on the Turf
May 17, 2025
Saturday’s great card at PIM will include the 21st running of the Gallorette Stakes, a Grade 3 on the turf for three-year-old females and upward. Conditions have been consistent over the two decades that the race has been run, with purses either being $100.000 or $150.000. From 2012 until 2022, that purse was $150.000, but was slashed in 2023. At least this year, it is back up to where it was before. Last year’s winner was Stellar Agent, who had also won the race in 2022, each time for Night Rider Stables. She’s still active, though is lightly raced by her trainer now, and will not be here to try and win for the third time. Here’s a look at the seven that we will be seeing!
1- Reorganize (Czech Out Farms, ridden by F Geroux)- Finished her three-year-old season strong, getting back-to-back wins in the $135.000 Forever Together and then the Grade 2 Mrs Revere at CD, where she earned a 100 SRF. We’ve only seen her twice in 2025, where she ran a respectable fifth in the Grade 1 Pegasus F & M Turf and then struggled late at a longer distance, though was still third. At a mile and sixteenth there, she has a better result and possibly a victory. Czech Out Farms is picking his spots with this one, and I would expect her to run well here.
2- Peacestone (Hunterman Stable, ridden by P Lopez)- When running on the turf, Peacestone has been strong, with three wins in nine starts while hitting the board seven times. Last June, she went on a streak of three straight turf wins, with the actual streak being four if you include a dirt race at BTP. Her last four races have been graded, and while she is still searching for her first in a race like that, she’s been second twice. This is just her third start of the year, as well.
3- When Doves Cry (Big Jd Racing, ridden by J R Velazquez)- In her three starts this year, she has failed to hit the board, which is a letdown given that she had finished her three-year-old campaign showing promise. Perhaps the Pegasus F & M Turf was a little much for her in January, but a lackluster performance six weeks later in the Grade 2 Hillsborough Stakes at TAM tempered the excitement and had the trainer try a sprint with her next time out. Ran fourth there and will now go long again. May show that late 2024 side of her here.
4- Power Royale (D J C Racing Stables, ridden by F Pennington)- This seven-year-old mare is the highest earner in the field, but it can help when all but two of your rivals in here have made half of your 32 starts. Power Royale has 12 wins, with the most recent coming in December at the Grade 3 Frankel Stakes at SA. Last time out, took on some big names in the Grade 1 Wiley and ran fifth. None of those powerhouses are here, so more of the same from that may be all it takes. She’s my top pick.
5- The Great White (Mo Mentum Farm, ridden by G Corrales)- Picked up by the trainer for $125.000 in a March private sale after spending two races with Luz International. That trainer was the one to finally get him in the winner’s circle in his seventh try, which was also the first time that The Great White went long. With Mo Mentum Farm, the filly has been stakes place and has hit the board in each of her two races. Ran third last time out in the Grade 3 Bewitch at KEE, and this race should suit her well.
6- Prairie Candy (Overpeer Stables, ridden by F Boyce)- The lone three-year-old in the field, and that will get her a five-pound weight allowance. She’s only made four starts, with one finish each in of the top four positions. This is Prairie Candy’s first race with Overpeer Stables, as the trainer claimed her for $20.000 at a PRX race last month. Showing steady improvement in works, so we may see more of her at this level, but regardless this is a tough assignment.
7- Keeping Hagi (The Sidley Stud, ridden by M Franco)- You’ll see a bunch of stake experience on this one before realizing they were all free track stakes. In her last four races, she’s been beating up rivals at BTP, as she was downgraded after winning the $30.000 Molson Cup at FE. After beating the likes of Texas Eagle at BTP last time out (had to atone for losing to that one in November, after all), Keeping Hagi gets a long overdue chance in a graded race. It may too much for her, just like she was too much for BTP horses, but at least she gets the shot.
Prediction: 4-1-2-5
