1 Mayenne On The Map Racing Wilson E J
Has been on the state bred circuit since debut and she is ticking along nicely easily wining her maiden on her second start. Long odds on favorite for the South Ocean Stakes over this course and distance last time out she tried to make all but was easily brushed aside by the winner being beaten four lengths into second. An on pace type you have to question her stamina after that run but she should be given another chance in this grade and should acquit herself well.
2 Blue Caviar Waldo Lermyte J
She carries a 2Lb penalty for her gutsy dead heat win in the Princess Elizabeth last time and that puts her right alongside Polish Gemini who was only a half length behind her that day. Her form figures read very strongly with two ungraded stakes wins and a third at grade three in the Mazarine Stakes make her a good chance here even with a penalty.
3 Asha Greeko Holdem Hernandez R M
Won her maiden on turf but switches to dirt today and may find herself a little outclassed. She is a nice sort but i do wonder whether this is just a throw her in to see sort of run and she may be best watched.
4 Bright Rivaly Crocker Ggs Boulanger G
Another that may find a couple of these too hot for her she did win her maiden over this course and distance so may be a surprise package. She won that maiden in a similar time to the Princess Elizabeth and has worked a 1.11 flat at home so whilst she doesnt have the exposed form she is clearly getting better as she stretches out.
5 Polish Gemini Night Rider Stables Contreras L
People missed her when she won a $9.000 maiden claimer but since then she has been running very well in good company and has the form to win this. Close up in a couple of statebred non graded stakes races she ran very nicely from a wide gate in the grade one Alcibiades to end up fourth and that sort of showing puts her right in this. In her last start she was a half length third to Blue Caviar and gets 2Lb from that one today so has the right to beat her given that.
6 Two Grins Estero Farms Husbands P
Worked 1.10 and 2 at the beginning of this month and that coupled with two ungraded stakes wins make her a big hope for the trainer of the year. She would be a popular choice but for the 2Lb penalty and the wide gate but she looks a big hope regardless.
SUMMARY
Well there are three horses with the form on paper to take this, Two Grins, Blue Caviar and Polish Gemini and there isnt much between them with the draw and weight penalties taken into consideration. Bright Rivalry may run well if you want to look outside the box.
