1 Great Beneficiary Smokey Stover Stein J 124 —
An eight-race winner she was pretty impressive when taking the Menard Memorial Stakes last time beating La Chica Gris and they match up again today and there doesn’t seem to be any reason this filly can’t confirm those placings. An out and out sprinter there aren’t many options for the girls over a minimum trip thus she is back in the same grade and with no penalty and a good draw she must start a very strong chance.
2 Ponzi Scheme TwinTowersRacing Bridgmohan S X 124 —
Running most of her races over much longer trips she switched to sprinting last time out and ran a creditable second in an open allowance at Hou. With trip meaning little here at HRP you cannot write her off running well from this perfect draw, but she will have to work hard early to stay in touch.
3 Empirical Avenue Z Castellano J J 124 —
She has been very consistent since being claimed from the free track running in some competitive allowances and always getting into the finish. She certainly deserves to be in the top three and has plenty of heart so may be the one to include in all the exotic bets.
4 La Chica Gris Angelos Stable Ruiz Jo 124 —
Won the Abubdantia before running second to Great Beneficiary last time. She was taking ground off the winner that day and if this was six furlongs and not five i would be more bullish about her chances of turning the tables. If there is early pressure and the pace is very hot it could help her and i certainly would be including her in any top two bets.
5 Luna Chrystal Gap Enterprises Perez Edg 124 —
Another consistent sprinter she doesn’t have the exposure of some and does look a late developer but i am not sure she is up to this just yet. Certainly, a chance of getting some of the stake.
6 The Great Enabler Hawaiian Shirt Guy Leparoux J R 124 —
Drawn widest she is another who has excelled at sprinting and has a decent record. She ran well to be third in the Smart N Fancy last year and has the right sort of form and works to be battling for a paycheck.
SUMMARY
This looks to be a repeat pf the Menard Memorial with the first two home likely to fill the first two places here. There are other chances though, The Great Enabler probably has the clearest form to be the biggest danger, but they are all solid sprinters, and it is hard to settle on the losers.
