13 GP The GP Oaks (GII) [KYO]
$200.000 3yo F 1 1/16m Dirt 122lbs +penalties
The gate should be full as we are headed down to Hallandale Beach and beautiful GP for The GP Oaks (GII), a mile and a sixteenth main track event for the 3yo fillies. I’m looking at the three-headed monster from Mb Stables to be tough today, so let’s put Feral Impact on top. She comes into today off of a pair of runner-up efforts, one to close out 20 and then another to kick off her 21 campaign, both vs. tough graded fields. I’ll go right next door for her stable mate and let’s give Intolerable a big look as well. She just doesn’t run a bad race… on the board in all nine of her lifetime starts and three wins in that bunch. Speaking of consistent, Carrie Ann is another that has been on the board in seven of eight starts and you have to respect that kind of form.
It’s a heck of a field and you certainly don’t want to miss this one.
Here’s The Field –
Back-to-back wins, so of course she was sold prior to this one. She looked good taking down Cal-bred stakes horses in Nov and she’s been working well, so it will be interesting to see what we get out of her in this one.
A single win from her, but she has a couple of nice runner up finishes vs. stakes company including the Golden Rod (GIII). But, and there’s always a but, her last two have been trifling efforts where she was ninth and eleventh in FG stakes. Can she turn it around?
Got back on the winning side of things taking the Cincinnati Trophy at TP in her most recent effort. She’s a couple of lengths from being a genuine monster… a string of near misses in multiple graded races, even a fourth beaten a length on BC Day. Can she get the job done on a big stage today?
Taken out of the Dec Auction for $17.890 and broke maiden in her first start for the big barn. This conditioner does not mess around so if she’s in here, she must be able to run. I think you have to give her a serious look here today.
She is solid, and that win in the Forward Gal (GIII) proves that she can run with and even beat the very best of the best. Another solid third last out in the Davona Dale (GII) where she looked hopelessly out of it at the top of the lane and closed to be third. I’d give her a big chance in this one.
Three-for-four, so it’s hard to fault her efforts. This is her first shot at black-type horses, but she really seems to like the distance and has a ton of talent.. and she may have some odds with her. You might want to put her on your exotic tickets.
Three solid efforts from her and that is pretty good for a five race career… then, the buts come, but her two bad efforts were both against graded stakes horses where she was seventh and ninth. Can she turn it around today?
Another of the trio from the big barn, and she really hasn’t run a bad race. Three wins and three runner up finishes from her seven starts and comes into this one off of a pair of runner up starts vs top-end fillies. She’s the one to beat in my eye.
Last of the three-headed monster from Mb and another that certainly has been a solid filly. She just missed in the Matron (GIII) after a pair of wins and has been one-two-three in the three starts since, including a near miss in the Alexandra Stakes (GII) last out. She’s sure to be part of this one as well.
Lightly raced but she’s showing a lot of ability. Fourth in the aforementioned Alexandra (GII), her most recent, and she should be able to build off of that race. She could improve again today and make a big splash.
Another hard luck type that has been close in a number of races and a few lengths she would be on top of the world. Can she just get that extra little something and move up the ladder today? She is ALWAYS around.
Early Scratch
Sold via Private Purchase back in Jan and won her first start for the new barn, taking down $25.000 claimers at SUN last out. They jump into the deep end of the pool and draw in off of the AE list. The barn is looking for their first stakes score and this would be a heck of a stage to get it.
Would need another scratch to get into the field and she’s been close in all starts, so maybe this big outfit would like to see what they have in this one.
