Chilukki – Grade III
CD Race #5 1m Dirt Graded Stake
Purse $300.000 For Fillies And Mares Three Years Old And Upward.
1 Solar Opposite TwinTowersRacing Ryan S
A real consistent five year old she has run well over most trips and nearly always makes the top three. Third in a grade three last time she is not one of those flashy mares with a record spattered with graded stakes efforts but she is without a doubt good enough to take out a grade three. The draw will be perfect as long as she doesn’t get too far out of her ground early on and the jockey is riding at the top of his game.
2 Strawberry Mb Stables Jaramillo E
Gets into the perfect gate for the champion trainer and it has to be said the recent Beldame winner will probably start a worthy favorite. She had been racing as a sprinter for most of her career before she was switched back o routing from turf sprinting and as usual that brought about a big turnaround in form as she ran second in a grade three before her strong win in the Beldame. She looks perfectly set up for the win here.
3 Zombie Storm La Canada Racehorses Bridgmohan S X
This filly has been knocking on the door since her second in the grade one Frizette as a two year old but she hasn’t competed at that level since her juvenile days which is surprising considering her good form. The winner of the ONT Matron last time where she took position A on the new race engine by making all. She runs best from the lead or stalk which is perfect at the moment and she must rate a big chance tp upset the likely favorite inside her.
4 Ginger Lee Nakamura Stables Carrasco V R
A really nice three year old and the winner of the CA and Iowa Oaks she didn’t fair well in the Zenyatta last time against the older fillies and mares but to be fair most three year olds haven’t. It is all there if she can break the three year old voodoo at the moment and if any one can Nakamura can.
5 Z Key Mwn Racing Saez L
A consistent three year old this is her biggest test to date ina fairly light career. Her form is pretty good but her works are a little discouraging, she could be better than she looks.
6 Viking Belle Vb Smokey Stover Velazquez J R
Second to Zombie Storm in the ONT Matron last time the weights don’t come out her her favor today neither does the draw so it may be too tough for her to reverse those placings. There has been plenty of promise but she has been generally disappointing at stakes level since her good fourth in the Ashland. She has something to prove here.
7 Zero Twist John Henry Davis D
Won the grade two Bessarabian Stakes as a three year old but has been gently brought along this year and she may just be at a point where she is ready to go back to winning at this level. She has a lot going for her apart from the draw.
SUMMARY
I like the trifecta here, boxing up Zero Twist, Zombie Storm and Strawberry with the expectation that TwinTowers will ruin it all with Solar Opposite !
