Williams9 Shows Their Muscle in Alcibiades

Alcibiades – Grade I [BC] [KYO]

1st Out Of Tlove Williams9 Velazquez J R

This horse had the form, but I keep expecting the Williams9 juvenile bubble to burst but they prove week on week that they are becoming a topflight trainer and I won’t be underestimating their runners again. In her last three races running on the speed, she has just whacked away in the final furlong over shorter trips and whilst that can be seen as weakening and needing a shorter trip it is also a sign that they need further and cannot raise the speed at shorter trips in the finish. That looks to be the case here as she contested the lead throughout and had enough left to keep fighting to the line over this mile and sixteenth. Heading to the BC now she has the running style suited by this engine and will no doubt be a strong chance in the championship races.

2nd Credit Crime Aer Stables Ortiz I Jr

Chased the speed and was always in touch and I felt it was just a matter of when she would be let go. In the end I think Oritz underestimated the leader’s gameness as she tried hard but just couldn’t get to the winner. This will top her off nicely for the BC and I still think she will be a force to be reckoned with there.

3rd Escapist Williams9 Saez L

Tactically it looked to be a mistake to have the two stable runners taking each other on for the lead but it did mean that they had position A coming into the stretch. In the end one of them had to give way and it was this one today but there is no reason why it won’t be the other way round in the BC especially with more runners and the possibility of vastly different draws. This was a statement by the trainer, and they will be looking forward to November.

4th Silk Road Big Guns Stables Espinoza V

A black book effort for sure in her first attempt at black type. She got back early and flew home to grab fourth beaten a long length in the end and I really liked this effort, and it is a shame that she won’t get her chance in the BC.
