Winter Book landed Factious in the winner’s circle as the well-bred bay colt was not to be denied in the late stages of Saturday’s HOL Derby (GI).  Moving up at will, when asked, the home-bred set a new stakes record for the DMR mile and an eighth version of this long time classic, getting home in 1:44.87 over the firm turf.  Jacks Courage, dismissed at 26/1 odds, had the lead in the lane, but could not hold-off the winner, taking the second spot, a half-length back.  It was three-quarters of a length to Train Wreck in third, then a half-length to Drinkin Creepin in the fourth spot.  Seven lengths covered the field of eight.
