With Best Pal Stakes Win, Forceamaulu Likely Better Than His Brother Already

It’s not very often in our virtual world of racing that a horse is able to duplicate the success of an accomplished full brother, but Forceamalu may be on the way of doing so unless you want to argue that he has already surpassed brother Sharkamaulu. The brother ran in the BC Juvenile Turf Sprint last year, but still does not have a graded win on his record yet, and overall has three wins in sixteen starts. It’s now the little brother that is making the waves, as Forceamalu would head to the Best Pal Stakes and do something big bro has never done: get that graded win while duplicating his win total. But for Forceamalu, those three wins are now in his first three starts and he also seems destined for the BC. He is trained by Arindel, and it is the first win in this race for him and for jockey E Maldonado. Congratulations to them! The time of the victory was 1:09.33, ranking second quickest of the five editions of the race at an even six furlongs. Let’s take a look!

(1/4 Mile- :22.64)- Loko Moko grabs the early for South Shore Stables, and jumps out to an uncontested lead of about a length and a half. They are lined up in rows after the start, with a group of three followed by a group of four, and then another group of four, in an alignment commonly seen. The first group contains our eventual winner, Arindel’s Forceamaulu, and that one is able to enjoy a rail trip down the backstretch. In the third lane, Lazy Eye’s Shoo Fly is making the most of his outside post and holds the third position, with Nygard, out of Kopites, running between them, but is a half length behind after two furlongs. The next group of four has Marching Orders (Mb Stables) on the rail and running slightly ahead of the other three. His stablemate, Tempered, is also part of this row, but a bit behind the two running in the middle, which are Obfuscator (Jerry Garcia Racing) and Bien Bien (Fractious). The back row, which is about a length and a half, consists of, from inside to outside, Viking Afleet Affair (Rock Creek), War Regime (TwinTowersRacing), Munich (Mo Mentum Farm), and Magical Sunset (La Canada Racehorses).

(Top Of Stretch, 1.5F To Go)- Running around the turn, and into the stretch, Loko Moko was looking very strong and starting to look like he was getting away from the others. Running behind him were both Forceamaulu and Shoo Fly, and they were certainly still in it, but they would need to show a little more to have a shot at the win. Fortunately for them, they still had plenty of time to do so and were close enough. Everyone one else, though, was going to have a tough time here. Obfuscator ran fourth, and was doing well, passing Nygard, and running with Tempered but they still had to make up three lengths. Marching Orders and Bien Bien were dropping out of it, and as for everyone else, maybe they could make a run at fourth, but the top three were out of reach unless they had a major collapse.

(Finish- 1:09.93)- In the stretch, this looked like it was going to be Loko Moko’s day, he was still in good stride, and with a half furlong to go, he still had a length advantage. But Forceamaulu was not going to give in, and he’s heard people talking about his talented brother still has not gotten done in a graded stake. Would he have a different level of stretch desire that could make big bro jealous? He kept on coming, and as the wire approached, he was now alongside Loko Moko. The force was with him, and he would come up at the end to bite Loko Moko and earn the victory in a photo. Fantastic stretch desire here, hope you were watching, Sharkamaulu! Shoo Fly ran steady with Loko Moko in the stretch, and that gets him third, hanging on over Tempered, who made a valiant effort, and Obfuscator was close by with them. The other seven were at least two more lengths back and non factors today. The rest of the order will go in the books as Munich, Nygard, Magical Sunset, Marching Orders, Bien Bien, Viking Afleet Affair, and War Regime.

About The Winner- Forceamalu, trained by Arindel and ridden to victory by E Maldonado, is a two year old colt by Shark Force and is out of Hanamaulu. He was bred in Ontario as a yearling by his trainer, and they have been together throughout. Congratulations to the connections! He is now a perfect 3-for-3 in his career, with two stake wins and one graded win. His career earnings are now $234.600, just $48.120 behind his brother already!
