1st Wolfslayer, trained by Maxmillion Farm
Back on the grass and back in the winners circle for the first time since December of 2018 and she barely got there by a nose. She had a great trip from her inside post and it didn’t look like she’d hold off the runner up but she managed to get her nose down. She ran the race in 1:27.49 and earned $90.000 for the win.
2nd Chateau De Chambord, trained by John Henry
An unlucky runner up finish as she was absolutely rolling late but ran out of real estate and could not get up in time. She was very back early on and almost double digit lengths off the lead. She was rolling like a freight train late and just needed a little more distance to get the win. Very good runner up finish.
3rd Steal The Heart, trained by Samlam
Finally back to a good performance from this filly as she was only beaten by a half length by the winner. She stalked the pace right behind the leader early on. She looked like she was in a perfect position to get the win but could not hold off the late charges of the top two. A good run from her.
4th Cracked The Code, trained by Smokey Stover
Too fast early for this filly as she had a two length lead at one point. After the twenty two and three first quarter it was just too much for her to keep going all the way to line. She still ran very good to hold for fourth though and she was only beaten three quarters of a length.
Summary
Well the winning filly is a grade one winner but it had been over a year since she won a race. The switch from dirt to turf was the key in here as she ran a big race to get the job done with these. Congratulations to Wolfslayer and Maxmillion Farm.
