Wrap Up of the Stakes on the 17th

Bold Venture Stakes – Grade III

Public Information got home for a neck getting rewarded for some consistent efforts in the lead up. A very fast early pace set this race up for the closers and this five-year-old was the one who made it count. Neon Delite came from a mile behind to be second but just had too much to do in the end although another ten yards and the result could have flip flopped. Another five-year-old, this was a great effort from a horse that was claimed for just $20.000 at the start of the year. So Slick filled third with a game run on the speed from the wide draw using a tactic that looked like it suited the four-year-old and may see some success in the future.

Catch A Glimpse Stakes

Red Fox Farms is definitely a name to put on your watch list as they continue to make their mark in just their second season. Matey which was bought for just $10.000 made it three from three with an impressive turn of foot on a track that may have suited her like for rain. The maiden My Sharona ran well to be second after going on the pace early and must be a shoe in for a maiden win next time. The early pace setter Nora Batty ran third but was weakening at the end.

Soaring Free Stakes

Just as I write that Red Fox Farms is a stable to follow, they pick up their second stakes race of the day with Mystic Talent that made all for a very easy win. The stable has two very nice juveniles here and will be looking towards November with them in the hope of a BC spot. Ocean Crest was second just like the maiden in the filly’s version and like that one will be a strong favorite should she take on a maiden next time. Profound Fury stalked the winner early but couldn’t go on with it ending up third.

King Edward BC Stakes – Grade II

The race entries for this race fell apart because of the off track leaving just four running for a $200.000 purse which was very disappointing for the game. Riggins Racing won’t mind though as Giannis came back to his best on going he loves to record an all the way one length win. Cascade King could do nothing in ground that he doesn’t love but took second ahead of The Hook that took a fairly distant third.
