Kopites’ late-running Ye Charley came from out of the clouds to upset the $1,000.000 Grade I BC Juvenile Turf registering a fast 1:33 1/5 on the SA turf. Ye Charley stayed at the back of the field in 13^th for most of the race. Coming home he was still back in 9^th, but not that far off by lengths. As they came into the stretch he had a head of steam going as he had angled to the center of the track. With an eighth to go, he had the favourite in his sights and just caught Mb Stables’ Generals Opus at the wire.

Generals Opus broke out of the gate in competition for the lead and mixed it up with the “front runners” around the Club House turn and backstretch before J R Velazquez urged him to the lead. It’s a bit hard to refer to the early runners as being front runners as Mb Stables’ other runner, Funny One, had drawn off to a four-length lead. By the time they came into the stretch, Funny One was done and heading for the back, and Generals Opus had opened a clear lead. Coming down the stretch he had a two-length lead before Ye Charley started cutting into the favourite’s lead. Generals Opus continued on with courage and came within a neck of holding.

Sir Daniel Martin’s 9-1 shot Sicario finished consistently to get the third spot. The gelding was well back in 9^th in the early going and started moving up around the Club House turn, working his way through traffic down the backstretch, switching our to split horse at the top of the stretch and continued on consistently, moving into second before being overtaken by the winner.

The longest price in the field, Luz International’s Titans Revenge, trailed throughout the race before exploding into the stretch to finish fourth.
