Yet Another Dead Heat to Enjoy as Trillium Stakes Sees Two Winners

Trillium Stakes – Grade III
1 1/16 Mile Dirt Stake Purse $150.000 Filly & Mare 3 Year Olds And Up.

1st= Whoop Whoop The Sidley Stud Moran D

Another day and another dead heat and whilst the optics don’t look good it does mean we had another exciting finish to sort through. The trainer has been in great form for a while now and this consistent filly came back to winning form today with a gutsy effort from the stalk. As expected, they went hard up front with a few on-pace runners but rather than race them this filly took a nice sit behind them and got the reward at the end of the race. As the three-year-olds catch up to the older horses so the four-year-olds are catching up to their elders and that is certainly reflected in her form figures as she has improved as the year has gone on.

1st= American Sky Riggins Racing Wilson E J

The easily anticipated fast pace suited this closer perfectly and though she couldn’t quite time it right to get the outright win she managed a share with a last stride lunge. As an older mare she needs things to go her way and her last two starts have seen a perfect scenario for that to happen, maybe with trainers seemingly favoring speed she could run up a sequence as it has been a while since she won two in a row.

3rd Flyingbolt Mo Mentum Farm Fukumoto D

A front runner in the wet last time and a closer in the dry this time, it is really hard to anticipate what a whole group of horses will do in different conditions, but she certainly chose the right option today. Flying home she got into the finish but was too late to force a three-way dead heat but was only a neck behind at the post. This was a much better effort from the seven-year-old who clearly still has some miles on the clock.

4th In Progress TwinTowersRacing Civaci S

Kept on and was beaten less than a length into fourth in a typically close finish. She backed out of the speed battle, because, well someone had to and did very well to keep on strongly for fourth in a tight race.
