There is a pattern of racing now that see’s horses that go to the lead from an inside draw invariably hold on when they do not go too mad early on. Just like her win in the ONT Matron she did exactly that and held on by a half length as the closers battled with the race engines new slower closing action. There will come a time when we invariably see change and the race engine will swap back but for now fillies like this one are really coming into their own. With ten wins now she is closing in on the 1K mark for prize money and i feel she is a very under rated filly considering her achievements. nicely bred there is a future for her away from the course but for now i think we will be enjoying her for a while yet.

2nd          Zero Twist            John Henry              Davis D

The odds maker at HRP never ceases to amaze me as this one that started favorite in a big ticket open allowance last time and won easily and started this race at odds of over 40/1 !! Well i am not complaining because it meant that i tipped out a 1300/1 trifecta but i was certainly the least surprised at this nice effort. She went through the wilderness a little but she is back now and very nearly chased down the winner from the wide gate and trying to close which is nigh on impossible these days.

3rd            Strawberry             Mb Stables           Jaramillo E

made all to win the Beldame last time but failed to get the A1 position this time and had to settle for the stalk, in the good old days that would have meant she would have passed the leader and got caught by the closer but this was a worst case scenario as she didn’t catch the winner but also got caught by the closer. She is a quickly improving filly but you couldn’t help but be a little disappointed by her flat finish and i do wonder whether she is at the end of a long season and could do with some time in the paddock.

4th              Solar Opposite         TwinTowersRacing       Ryan S

Flew from a long way back and very nearly ruined my trifecta just as i mentioned in the write up. This is a nice filly but sadly her racing style just doesn’t suit the new engine.
