Foster- Grade I
1 1/8 Miles Dirt Graded Stake Purse $1,000.00 Four-Year-Olds And Upward. At CD
Foster promises to be another battle between the two reigning world champions which have been battling each other since the KYD and trading blows all season. That’s not to say there won’t be plenty of talented competition ready to step up to challenge. Most recently Extreme Jet has held the advantage over Fawkes ever since Fawkes won the big one, the BC Classic. There are others loaded with talent just waiting for the opportunity to upset the two champs and plunder the $1,000.00 purse. Diametric is on fire right now with so many 100+ SRF ratings his form sheet looks like it’s going to sink. All Take won the $3,000.00 Pegasus World Cup and is training well for this race. Here’s the field:
Horse Owner Odds SRF
Extreme Jet Mb Stables *7-5 103
Fawkes Delta Farms 8-5 102
All Take Alydar Stables 8-1 100
Sick Boi Royalty Stables 5-1 98
Special Event Nakamura Stables 6-1 97
Gymnast Noblepark 4-1 101
Cherokee Revolution Royalty Stables 9-2 101
Berlin The Sidley Stud 10-1 100
Criminal Law D J C Racing Stables 10-1 99
Eight West Party TwinTowersRacing 20-1 98
1 Eight West Party TwinTowersRacing 98
Eight-year-old Eight West Party has been in relatively good form since his win in the BC Dirt Mile. In fact, he has added two more wins since in The Grade III GP Mile and The Grade III OP Mile. He has suffered from deep closer’s inconsistency with a couple of losses.
2 Berlin The Sidley Stud 100
The eight-year-old Berlin is in young form with back-to-back graded second place finishes registering at least 100 SRF. Besides the seconds in the Grade II Eclipse Stakes and The Grade III PIM Special, there’s a sharp win in the 1 1/8 mile Grade III KY Cup Classic.
3 Sick Boi Royalty Stables 98
Sick Boi is a deep closer that comes here on a string of three wins including a win over Extreme Jet and Fawkes in the Grade II Alysheba with a 103 SRF. Alog with that win came wins in The Grade III Essex Handicap and The Grade III Blame. These three races were the first with E Esquivel in the boot, and he gets his services again.
4 Cherokee Revolution Royalty Stables 101
Cherokee Revolution finished second in The Grade II Gold Cup at SA in his most recent scoring a 101 SRF in defeat. He had the lead into the stretch of the 1 1/4 mile route, and he looked brilliant winning a high-priced allowance at 1 1/8 miles the race before at CD.
5 Criminal Law D J C Racing Stables 99
Criminal Law seemed uninterested in the mile of The Grade I Metropolitan Handicap at SAR most recently but shared a win the race before in The Grade II OP Handicap at 1 1/8 miles.
6 All Take Alydar Stables 100
All Take disappointed in his last two starts against the big kids, but prior to that he won The Grade I Pegasus World Cup for $3,000.00 against many of the best in the world. Again, the inconsistencies of a deep closer. With a purse like this, he will likely be on the top of his game. This is my dark horse in this race.
7 Extreme Jet Mb Stables 103 and
10 Fawkes Delta Farms 102
Extreme Jet and Fawkes have been locked in glorious duel since the KYD with Fawkes coming to age later than the Derby Champ. As we all remember, Extreme Jet won the KYD but uncharacteristically tired for the Prk. Meanwhile, Fawkes was inconsequential in the KYD and closed well for fourth in the Prk and then laid off to rest until The Haskell. While Fawkes rested, Extreme Jet scored his spectacular closer victory in The BEL. Then came The Grade I Haskell and Fawkes turned the tables as he came of age with a one length win. Extreme Jet was a disappointing fifth as the 6-5 favourite. Extreme Jet made his next start The Grade I Travers and won while Fawkes laid off until the Grade I PA Derby where he met Extreme Jet again and the both of them were schooled by No Real Drama as Extreme Jet ran second and Fawkes ran third. Net came the big meeting: BC Classic, and it was Fawkes on top by a head over Extreme Jet. Since then, they have met three more times with Extreme Jet bettering Fawkes but only winning one of those races. Today’s race looks to be another classic match-up between these two champions.
8 Gymnast Noblepark 101
After his second in the Grade III ONT Derby, Gymnast seemed to go off his feed for a few races and by the time he reached the Grade III Ghostzapper, he was regularly a longshot, but he finished third. So, that led to his most recent race, The Grade III PIM Special which he won in 101 SRF rating.
9 Diametric Mb Stables 101
Diametric has won five of his last eight in impressive speed. His last six SRF rating have been 100 or over at distances from 6 1/2 furlongs to 1 1/8 miles. Two races back he won the Grade I CD at seven furlongs and earning a 103 SRF. Four races back he won the Grade III Mineshaft Stakes at 1 1/16 miles and six races back he won the Grade III Fayette at 1 1/8 miles. Speed and versatility make him look like a threat.
11 Special Event Nakamura Stables 97
Special Event ran off a marvelous string of four stakes wins culminated by a 100 SRF win in the Grade I SA Handicap. He then found the distance of the Grade III Ali a bit long finishing third, but he recovered fairly well finishing second in The Grade III Blame as the favourite.
