1st      Cailleach           Jerry Garcia Racing                          21-1 HRP *3-1 SRF

This is a little embarrassing here, but my handicap is supposed to do my best to not only predict the winner but to predict the odds. My choice Cailleach but I thought she would be the favourite, but instead, she was a 21-1 longshot. I should have been honking about picking a big longshot to win. Anyway, hey! Jerry Garcia Racing got a big, unexpected win with his three-year-old filly Cailleach in a $1,500.00 stakes race. She had only been in two turf races before this and they were claiming races, so from those humble beginnings… she ran a textbook midpack stalk never more than three lengths back and was only a neck back at the top of the lane and after dueling the length of the stretch with Red Bone wound up in a wild three-horse photo that revealed her winner by a neck.

2nd      Wild Water Wagon        La Canada Racehorses         11-1 HRP 5-1 SRF

Wild Water Wagon watched the goings on up front from the start until they were turning for home, strictly deep closer methods as she had used for the three route races she has won and started her run for the wire from a close fourth at the top of the stretch but failed to overtake Cailleach by a neck but did manage to get in front of Red Bone by a neck.

3rd      Red Bone                 Angelos Stable                      4-1 HRP 4-1 SRF

Red Bone came out of the gate wanting the lead to repeat her last two races where she went wire-to-wire but was unable to take the lead away from Shes Chasing Me which led the race by a neck to the top of the stretch where she began to fade leaving the lead to Red Bone at the top of the stretch where she took up the battle with Cailleach until the three of them hit the wire in a photo of necks.

4th      Top Nurse                        Our Athletes             11-1 HRP 4-1 SRF

Top Nurse which had been running with the leaders in her last four races, decided to go deep closer, and I mean deep close, for this race and dropped back to twelfth until the stretch. When she let loose her late run, it was damned impressive, but too late winding up fourth, only a length off.
