RACE 10 DMR San Diego Hcp (GII)
$200.000 3yo&Up 1 1/16m Dirt
No wins from his three seasonal starts, but he’s been on the board in each of those graded races. Is today the day to get his picture taken or is it another day of close-but-no-cigar? JT gets the call, which I like, so give him a real hard look before going to the windows.
Mb does it again – snags this one for $100.000 on the private purchase, off of a few up-the-track efforts – fires him back in a GIII at PRM and he shows uncharacteristic speed, then goes on to win by a half-length at 12/1 odds. He shows a couple of solid works over this strip, and you certainly don’t want to overlook him here.
Second part of the two-headed Mb Stables monster and again, a horse that was picked-up for only $15.010 and has never been worse than second since. He just missed in the Foster (GI) at CD last out, over a wet surface. Again, he’s one that deserves a look and has a big chance of getting the job done today.
Hasn’t been off of the board since the private purchase at $30.000, and all of those have been graded affairs. In Nov of last season, he was running with a $5k tag on his head, so you have to give a tip of the cap to the barn for taking this one to new heights. Snappy work here last week and I’d expect a big effort here today.
