Three year old chestnut Cardi B ( Gdp Inc ) would close up ground down the stretch to capture the final installment in KYO points. The 100 points she gained has put her at the top of the list with one hundred and twenty points, ten better then Dream Whisperer ( Mb Stables ).

After two failed attempts in the Gr. II Golden Rod and Grade II FG Oaks at this distance, new life has sprung free from Cardi B as she took home the top prize for this event. It seems that bringing back rider Wilson E J from her effort in the FG Oaks paid off dividends, and it will be interesting to see if she will get the call next month in Kentucky.
While the field were all jockeying for position through the opening turn spread some five wide, Estero Farms’ Eye Test would emerge with the lead turning onto the backstretch in an opening quarter of 23.02. Poised just behind her were A Girl Has No Name ( Gdp Inc ) and Sin Of Misty ( Night Rider Stables). Cardi B was poised in fifth just four back, with the likes of Book Of Aggravation ( Estero Farms ) some five and a half behind, and post time favorite Southern Two Step ( The Sidley Stud ) some eight out.
With the opening half mile in 46.58, the leader was now joined quickly to her inside by A Girl Has No Name. Sin Of Misty was content on sitting just two off the pace, while Cardi B moved up to fourth some five wide of the rail. Viking Birthday ( Delta Farms ) was still staying close to the pace, with Queens Command ( Allinthegate ) and Dissolve ( Mb Stables ) evenly paced to her inside.
Around the far turn and making the final turn for home with two furlongs to run, and Eye Test was still two on top of her closest runner. Sin Of Misty was joined to her outside by Cardi B, as A Girl Has No Name was now starting to drop back after keeping the pace honest for her stablemate. Queens Command and Viking Birthday were three back, with Dissolve some four and a half back. Behind this group were a closing Southern Two Step, Tauranga ( D J C Racing Stables ), Book Of Aggravation, with the final pairing being Kapalua ( Smokey Stover ) and D J C Racing Stables other entry Bell Bottom Blues. Three quarter time posted was 1:10.40.
It would take till the final sixteenth of a mile before Cardi B would run up alongside Eye Test for the lead. He would stop the clock at the wire in 1:42.14, with Eye Test hanging on for the runner-up cheque, fending off a slew of late runners. Southern Two Step would get up for the show money, slightly ahead of Queens Command and Book Of Aggravation.
The victory has definitely assured Cardi B a spot in next months Kentucky Oaks, but it will be a star studded affair that’s for sure. Eye Test now sits in 18th with the 40 points she earned for this event, while Southern Two Step sits in 14th. Queens Command climbs slightly to 30th.
