While Saturdays race is for three years old and up, only sophomore have come to compete in this years event, and we don’t even have Team 7 Illusions sending out an entry to defend his title.
- The Matchmaker Gr. III Purse $150.000
- Monmouth Park – For Fillies & Mares Three years old and Up
- One Mile and an eighth – Turf Course
- July 20th, 2019
While in the real world Monmouth Park will be celebration its 150th anniversary this time next year, four runners have come to this venue to hopefully add another victory to there Gr. III collection. Leading the way in this group is Gdp Inc with 28 victories at this level, and this stable will definitely be shooting for number twenty nine. So lets look over this field and see if one of them shines brighter then the rest;
1 Bach In Tune ( Threshold ) Rider – Bejarano R – Opened this season over on the west coast, and in her first three starts there she earned two wins and a place finish for her efforts. Both victories came at today’s distance and on the grass. Made the move to this oval to compete in the Gr. III Eatontown, and she managed to find some strength in the stretch to close to within three. Stu has been working her steadily up on the E.P. Taylor course, and is bringing a bullet work here from the 12th of July. Should see some speed early in this one, so may have something to run at late.
2 Di Magni ( Gdp Inc.) Rider- Pennington F. – Decided to control the pace last time out against Alw47.5/N2X over this very surface, walking away with a one length advantage at the line. She would earn a 97 SRF for her efforts, that being the highest number against this group. Her last mile and an eighth effort came in the Gr. III Providencia Stakes at SA where she placed fifth after remain three shy throughout. Should be at the top early on in this affair battling with another, and hopefully she will hold off any late comers. Factor.
3 Chai Express ( Hambletonian Stables ) Rider- Juarez N. – Trainers last victory over this oval came earlier this month with Weapon Of Choice with the services of Juarez, so this trainer/jockey combo seem to have a connection here. This filly competed recently in an Alw45/N1X affair at today’s distance and surface and almost walked away with the victory, only to miss by a neck in the photo. She was the post time favorite and the betting public may lean her way once again here, if they disregard her not having any Graded experience. Should be one to dictate the pace and will make it tough if she is let go to far.
4 Number Nine ( Spankys Barn ) Rider- Bravo J. – Talk about a filly with some spunk! In her opener she went off at some 25-1 odds breaking her maiden at PEN. Her trainer was so delighted with that victory that she was shipped up to WO to compete in the Gr. II Dance Smartly Stakes against older. While she would place five of six, she managed to close up to within two lengths at the wire. She also earned a 95 SRF figure for that 10 panel event on the grass, second best here. If she sits just a bit closer to the front end this time out, may surprise this field down the lane. Like her chances for a lightly raced bay filly, and workout numbers are sharp too!
