Sunpunch Loves Soft Going in The AP Handicap

Three Year Olds and Up

1st Sunpunch, trained by Greeko Holdem

The first stakes win ever for this horse and it even came in a graded stakes race. He absolutely loved the soft turf as he came from dead last to end up drawing away from the field by two lengths. He ran the distance in 1:58.29 and earned $90.000 for the win.

2nd Digital Fraud, trained by Nakamura Stables

A very good runner up finish for this horse as he was only beaten by two lengths in the end after being last with three sixteenths of a mile left to go in the race. He was near last for most of the way and then slipped back to last but came back on to run a good second.

3rd Raj Action Packed, trained by Arindel

Well all of the top three runners in here closed from off of the pace and this horse was next to last early on. He did not seem to mind the soft going as he did come on pretty strongly late to at least get up for third and he was only beaten by two lengths in the end.

4th Siberian Prince, trained by Sir Daniel Martin

Not the worst performance from this horse as he at least hit the board but I am going to say that the soft going is not his favorite by any means. He was in a good spot and even made a move that looked like he could win but then he faded down the stretch. He at least bit the board though.

Summary

Well this race was kind of hampered by the rain as the turf course ended up being soft but the winner did not mind at all. He came from far back and flew home to end up winning by two lengths. Congratulations to Sunpunch and Greeko Holdem on the win.
