Kick It Up A Notch Receives a Presidents Cup

Presidents Cup
1 1/8 Mile Turf Stake Purse $200.000 Open 3 Year Olds And Up Foaled In PA.

I seem to have gone from writing about eight year olds to writing about three year olds in the space of a month and looking back over my years of writing for the SRF it seems we are following an age old pattern. So here we go with how this race panned out.

1st Kick It Up A Notch, trained by Mb Stables

Running only his second turf race this three year old was always well placed and had little trouble in taking this race by just under a length. I don’t think he is that much better on turf but he can clearly act on it but with the three year olds having all sorts of success recently it was not big surprise to see him winning.

2nd Instinctively, trained by Canadian Racing

Making all my fears about him staying this trip were borne out as he floundered inside the final furlong to be second.

3rd Tempus Edax, trained by Wolf Ridge Stables

Trailed by a long way but flew late to be a close third, if he had been a few lengths closer early on he may have won and I could’ve been writing about this grand old veteran winning his seventeenth race.

4th Clementine Cottage, trained by A And I Stables

It was a little sad to see him toiling under his big weight on a surface that didn’t seem to suit but he ran an honest race in the circumstances.
