The FL Sire Stakes – In Reality
For Two Year Olds Foaled in FL
One Mile and Sixteenth
Gulfstream Park
Purse: $500.000
Welcome back to Gulfstream Park where on Saturday we had State Breds in action here in the FL Sire Stakes In Reality. A purse of $500.000 on the line drew a field of six and now lets see how it went down.
The winner of the In Reality was Champagne Supernova. The post time favorite in this one delivered to the public. A winner in two of three starts on the year was looking to repeat his winning effort when taking the FLSSA here at GP last time out. Away quickest of them all as he grabbed a length advantage at the sound of the bell, as he took his lead into the stretch it was catch me if you can boys, but no one was able to get to him today as he went on to wire the field under J. Caraballo by a length. Winning in a time of 1:41.67 for the mile and sixteenth for owner / breeder Eastern Equine, who takes home the top payout of $300.000.
2) One City ~ 3/1 and one of two entries for owner Mb Stables was headed into this off a winning trip against Allowance Company at Belmont Park at the same distance as today. Jockey M. Mena getting the call aboard him today was away third at the break and two lengths behind leader Champagne Supernova, as he hit the straightaway he made a run at Champagne Supernova but it was not enough to get to him today leaving him second by a length. He takes home $120.000 for the run.
3) Atomic Titty Twister ~ 5/1 on the board and second in this years GI Hopeful was hoping to build off that last effort her against State Breds. Getting away last of the six at the break and six lengths behind, as E. Nunez asked him for more at the top of the lane he got the run he was looking for, but came up short as he went under the line to finish third by a length. He went out for owner / breeder Blushing Meadows and grabs a third place check for $60.000.
4) Eastern Townships ~ 2/1 was a half a length behind Champagne Supernova last time out in the FLSSA and was hoping for a winning run today. Out of the gate and sitting second, as he hit the top of the lane within striking range H. Hernandez went to the stick, but the run he needed was not there as went under the line to run fourth. He went out for owner / breeder Chili King Stables who takes home $20.000.
5) Anybody Home ~ 4/1 and the second entry for owner / breeder Mb Stables was coming into this looking for his Maiden score in a stakes race. Out and away fifth at the break and four lengths back of the leader, as L. Saez went to the whip he got a little closer but went on to finish fifth today.
6) Opening Week ~ 516/1 and the longest shot on the board today was moving back to the main track after two starts on the sod. Out and away fourth at the break, as he hit the lane he backed up to finish last of the six under R. Sanchez. He went out for owner Barcelona Farms.
