The Pennine Ridge – Grade II
1 1/8 Mile Inner Turf Stake Purse $200.000 Open 3 Year Olds.
1st Sweet Sweat Mb Stables Davis D
That old copy and paste button is getting a lot of use these days as the two stables that seem to be consistently winning everything they enter finished first and second again. This time it was Mb Stables turn to get the win and this is where the copy and paste comes in again as yet another top dirt horse switches surfaces and wins a big race in their first attempt. You can say what you want but there is very clearly not the real life definition between turf and dirt here at HRP or our very best player would have completely missed a turf router from very early on in his career. Its been a while since we have seen this brilliant juvenile at his best but today the result never looked in any danger as he went up to the speed and just kept piling it on to the line. It will be interesting to see the next step this one takes but i really think its just a matter of picking whether the stable needs a turf or dirt router in their armory.
2nd Iron Nation Nakamura Stables Cancel E
This one has been in great form but he was outclassed by a very good horse today. There are plenty more big wins in his future but the trainer will be hoping that Mb Stables takes Sweet Sweat back to the dirt.
3rd Hamburglar Mb Stables Carmouche K
A real consistent type i thought he may be put closer to the pace but he ended up going back a little worse than midfield. He ran on very nicely and did well to end up within a length of the winner and upsides Iron Nation at the end. I am not sure he will ever be a grade one winner but he is such a trier that i can see him picking up a race like this before long.
4th Big Aspirations Fractious Ortiz J L
Taken back as well he ran on nicely but didn’t match the finish of the top three in the end. He will find a nice race eventually and possibly may do better when taken over even further than this nine furlongs.
