Picked four horses and they ran 1/2/3/4… nice!   People Doubted is a class rascal that at the age of five may not quite be what he once was, but he put on a show in the Longacres Mile (GIII) stalking the pace and bringing home the bacon, scoring by a length in a final time of 1:35¹, and let the tote going off at nearly 13/1 odds. Silent Commander ran right with the winner and settled for the place, a neck better than First Down Dash in third.  Eclipse My Knowledge was a half length back in fourth.

As the gates flew open and the bell rang, People Doubted was on the early gas, Silent Commander and Undefeated Season showing early speed, Guy Lafleur, First Down Dash, then Bone Guy along the inside, back to the outside for Magical, Eclipse My Knowledge, Greek Counsul and Nb Forrest.

Around the clubhouse turn and onto the backside with five and a half furlongs to run, Undefeated Season led by a length and a quarter, People Doubted on the outside of Silent Commander as that duo pressed the leader, gap of two back to First Down Dash on the rail, Guy Lafleur on his outside, then another length and a half back to the trio of Magical between horses, Eclipse My Knowledge from the outside and Bone Guy along the rail, another length to Greek Counsul and Nb Forrest could see them all.

Down the backside and into the far turn, the field had three-eighths of a mile to run and Undefeated Season’s lead was narrowed to a half length as People Doubted moved up quickly.  A length and a half back to Silent Commander, another length and a half to First Down Dash on the rail, Guy Lafleur on his flank, another length to Eclipse My Knowledge, Magical on the rail, two more back to Bone Guy, Greek Counsul and Nb Forrest continued to bring up the rear.

Around the turn and into the lane, the field neared the furlong marker and People Doubted went right to the front opening up a two length advantage.  Undefeated Season looked weary as Silent Commander moved up to join that one, a trio in behind that pair that included First Down Dash, Guy Lafleur between horses and Eclipse My Knowledge on the outside and the remaining foursome had a lot of work to do.

Deep stretch and to the finish, this was all about People Doubted, as he just kept to the task at hand and went under the wire in front by a length and a half.  Silent Commander took second, a neck better than First Down Dash, with Eclipse My Knowledge closing ground late in fourth.  Guy Lafleur was fifth, Nb Forrest with some late gain to be sixth, Undefeated Season tiring to seventh, Bone Guy eighth, Greek Counsul ninth and Magical close this one out.

People Doubted is a 5yo bay entire by People Want To Know – Highly Doubted, by Twist Of Fate, and he was bred in Cal by Mb Stables.  Acquired by Waldo two starts back via Private Sales for $200.000, this was his first win for the new connections, his seventh lifetime victory and he now has an impressive bank-roll of $1,675.550.
