Does Number Nine love a mile and a half, or what?!? She lead throughout and held on by a nose after a stretch long duel with Big Fajita, but Number Nine remains undefeated at the marathon distance taking the Astra Stakes (GIII) by a nose in a final time of 2:25.13 on the lush SA lawn. Big Fajita was gaining late but ran out of real estate, taking second by three quarters of a length over Shake The Stick, with the same gap back to Holualoa in fourth. If you want a race to watch… go back and check this one out.. what a battle!!
Number Nine is a 5yo bay mare by Niner Forty Niner – Silent Partner, by Well Informed, and she was bred by Serinity Stables here in CA. This was her fifth lifetime win, four of those at a mile and a half, her first graded win, and she now shows earnings of $570.340.
