Choppy Inc. sure does have Slice Of Success right… after claiming the grey gelding in Oct of last year, this one has been a hand-full and now has a stakes race under his belt as the SSM Sprint was all about his late run.  Staying off of the early pace, he moved up to challenge at the top of the lane and powered by to win by a half length in a final time of 1:09.37 for the 6f over the fast GP main course.  Astrobound nosed out Crush Alvar for the place, making a nice little $82.70 exacta.

The eight sprinters got away from the gate with Articulate showing speed from the outside, Crush Alvar, then Fuddruckers from the rail.  Astrobound was next with Union Jake to his inside and Major Momentum to his outside, Slice of Success and Mucho Yep was the early trailer.

A half mile to run as the field neared the far turn, Crush Alvar with the lead by a length, Articulate giving chase to that one, Astrobound just to the inside of that one, Fuddruckers on the rail, Slice of Success between horses with Union Jake on his outside.  Two lengths back to Major Momentum and Mucho Yep could still see the all.

Swing around the turn to the top of the lane and moving past the three-sixteenth’s marker, Crush Alvar with a half-length lead from the rail, Slice Of Success asked and responded to move up quickly, Articulate still right there and Astrobound swing out widest of all for the run home.  Fuddruckers in behind that group and looking for running room, two more back to Major Momentum, Union Jake losing ground and Mucho Yep still waiting to pick up a foot.

Now in deep stretch and to the finish, Slice Of Success powered by Crush Alvar to take the lead, Astrobound down the center of the track and still in the heat of the battle as Fuddruckers was now inching up and getting involved.  But this was all about Slice Of Success as the grey held sway late and won by a half length.  Astrobound was second just in front of Crush Alvar, with Fuddruckers in fourth.  Major Momentum made up some ground late to be fifth, Mucho Yep in sixth, Articulate tiring to be seventh and Union Jake closed this one out.
