In the 11th start of his 6yo campaign, Audioslave used a late rally to run down Shaky Sight in the shadow of the wire to win The Mr. Prospector-G3 on Saturday at GP. Covering the seven furlongs of the $100.000 race in 1:21.59, Audioslave (Wonderfully Wicked o/o Twist Of Delight) recorded his first victory versus graded foes in over 35-months. He now has 10 wins from 44 starts in his career for earnings of $1,173.480. His conditioner, Alydar Stables, now has won this event three times; the only trainer at HRP to have achieved that feat.
It was a four-way battle on the front end as Shaky Sight, First Down Dash, Winchester, and Relate all went forward. That pace battle allowed Audioslave to race in the second flight just to the outside of Serious Havoc. As Shaky Sight and Relate sprinted the first quarter in :22.94, Audioslave was able to just tuck into the two path only a little more than three lengths off of the pace. The eventual winner was a bit further back by the time Shaky Sight shrugged-off the other pace factors and reached the half mile point in :45.83.
Still fifth at the top of the lane, Audioslave started gathering momentum. He tipped from the two path to the five path just outside the furlong marker and had 200 yards to make-up four lengths on Shaky Sight. Audioslave would need almost every inch of the final furlong as he was in the shadow of the wire when he put his nose in front for the first time. Shaky Sight ran a bang-up race and just got beat on the wire; he has nothing to hang his head about. Di Terra out-bobbed Dirty Cruz for the show honors just a length behind the top two after they both came from well back. The latter was followed across the wire by First Down Dash, Winchester, Relate, Serious Havoc, and Resident Fox.
Congratulations to Audioslave and Alydar Stables for their victory in The Mr. Prospector-G3.
