The betting public made Nakamura Stables’ Set In Space the odds-on favorite for the LCD Classic and he didn’t disappoint, getting home safely by two widening lengths while stopping the tele-timer in 1:47⁴ for the mile and a sixteenth LA-bred stakes.  Stable-mate El Gran Du Light helped Nakamura take all of the big money as he moved up the inside late to nail the second spot, with pace-setter Scotts Mustang taking third.  Sonofamillionaire was fourth.  

Set In Space is a 4yo bay gelded son of Cherokee Sunset – Dream Space, by Smart App, and he was bred in LA by Team 7 Illusions.  Acquired via private purchase in May of 2020 for $70.000, this is now his third career win from twenty starts, his first stakes score and he now has lifetime earnings of $393.790.  Congrats to the Connections!

Set In Space rated back off of the lead, moved forward through the turn fanning widest for the drive, up to engage leader at the furlong marker, pulled away to win comfortably.  El Gran du Light sat well off of the pace, closed down the lane inside to gain the place in the final yards.  Scotts Mustang clear lead to the top of the lane, headed just inside the eighth pole, surrendered the place late.  Sonofamillionaire trailed throughout.
