Distorted Reasoning, racing in the garnet and gold of Dawson Farms, broke alertly and proceeded to dominate the $125.000 Pasco Stakes at TAM on Saturday.  Speaking a day later, the conditioner said that the Rebel Stakes or Risen Star would be the likely target after leaving five rivals in his wake in the Pasco.  The winner has now earned $156.000 with three wins from six starts and looks to be a serious racehorse.

Leaving the gate running, Distorted Reasoning was on the inside of The Pelican Brief as the latter led the field through an opening quarter-mile in :23.03.  The neck deficit was quickly turned into a length and a half advantage after Distorted Reasoning covered his next quarter-mile in :22.94 and as he left the three-eighths pole, it looked like the race was over.

Distorted Reasoning was three lengths clear at the top of the lane and still running easily.  Behind him, The Great Unmasking had gotten on even terms with The Pelican Brief and Rudy Is With Me was moving well on the rail; however, there would be no drama about who the winner would be.  Running straight and true, Distorted Reasoning covered his last eighth in 12.38 seconds and hit the wire in 1:21.80, more than three and a half lengths in front of The Great Unmasking.  The place horse was a half length in front of Dont Ever Try It who was followed across the wire by Rudy Is With Me, East Of Creep, and The Pelican Brief.

This is the second time that Distorted Reasoning has been the flashiest of winners and if he can duplicate those performances on the KYD trail, he will be a serious threat wherever he runs next.  Congratulations to Dawson Farms and his horse, Distorted Reasoning, for their victory in the 2022 Pasco Stakes at TAM and good luck as they journey down the KYD trail.
