The public sent Arindel’s The Nation off as the 5/2 favorite in Saturday’s CA Cup Oaks and they were not disappointed as the gray filly closed from well back to get home safe by three-quarters of a length.  The final running time was 1:332 for the flat mile on a turf course labeled Firm.  Neon Moon, the 26/1 outside stayed close-up throughout this one and took the place, a neck better than Kiss Me Kelsie, dismissed at 15/1, and Biggle was a head back in fourth.

The Nation is a 3yo gray fill by Punch Line – Que Nation, by Que Niagra, and she was bred in Cal by Jediminds Stable.  Purchased privately for $40.000, prior to her racing career, she now has three wins from nine starts and lifetime earnings of $236.600.

The Nation broke in hand, unhurried while not far from the leader, inched up through the far turn moving to 5p for the drive, wore down foes, won driving.  Neon Moon tracked pace 2p, no excuse, second best.  Kiss Me Kelsie rated well off of the pace, swung widest for the drive, best foot too late.  Biggle set the pace to the final sixteen, tired.  Becoming mid-pack, moved to 5p into the lane, evenly.  Tropical Mama tracked the pace to the furlong marker, tired.  Pocono Life was never a factor.  Zom B ground saving trip, tired.  Steel Express was outrun.
