Took to the turf at the end of last year but didn’t really make much of a mark and has been brought back to the dirt this season. His first run of the year saw him make all over course and distance for an easy win in allowance company. He won in a decent time and with the ace draw today has a very good chance of a repeat win.

2     Snarl High         Voltage        Amparan F

Third in the Steak House Stakes on this track but over six furlongs he may have found that trip a bit short going on his mile victory in the race before. A good option for him here from the sought after draw and he should be in at the finish.

3       Cowboys Are King       T Boy Racing       Chirinos R

He has been a regular on the NM state bred circuit and won the Steak House Stakes last time with a gutsy effort. Though that was over six furlongs he proved earlier that he would stay this trip but that stakes win has earned him a penalty for this race so he will have to be on top of his game to win.

4     Average Savage       Threshold        Fuentes M T Jr

Lightly raced he has yet to go beyond six furlongs but did look as though this trip was on the cards with a hard fought maiden win last time. Not enough to know yet just how good he will be and this race will tell us more.

5     [Rename1653]          Jive Inc.         Juarez A J Jr

Carries a penalty for his good win in the NM Thoroughbred Futurity last year with Average Savage well behind. his two efforts since have just been OK and he faces his first route trip today. His last mile work says there is something there, we will find out what when they cross the line.

6     Port Gibson           Axeman          Perez M A

Working well enough to be a factor but has yet to show the sort of form that makes him a pickable choice here.

7     Simple Moon       Mb Stables      Carreno J

This filly was bought from Jive Inc for $125 with some decent form last year to her name. Close up in The schylerville and the Chandelier she of course gets the fillies allowance here which on her work times puts her right in it. She has been handicapped with the outside draw so i will leave it up to the mathematicians as to whether she can still win.

SUMMARY

Mb Stables relies on the current trend to continue with their filly in this race but i rather think she will be beaten from the tough draw. That may leave Rename 1653 or Fire Marshall Bill to pick up the pieces.
