Many of these fillies have never run on turf before, and the ones that have performed very well. Sioux Chief (Kopites) came close in her last race and turned in the best mile turf work of the bunch. But Queen Rumble (Mb Stables) and I Have To Chai (Oval Express Farms) won at conditions similar to what they will face here. Then there’s Super Petty (Team 7 Illusions) who won by two at a mile on turf. It’s a talented field of juvenile fillies and the race is up for grabs.
Here’s the field:
#1 Forever Sweet (Mb Stables) Undefeated in two starts, this filly looks like something special. She broke her maiden in a maiden special weight at TAM, then followed that up with a N1X win at PID. Not sure about turf though.
#2 Queen Rumble (Mb Stables) Mb’s other filly took three tries to break her maiden but when she did, she did it in style, winning a state-bred maiden special weight at GP by three lengths. Don’t count her out. Another one trying turf for the first time.
#3 Sioux Chief (Kopites) Still a maiden, this filly changed hands in July for $50.000. She’s shown promise in all her starts, finishing off the board just once in five races. She’s got her work cut out for her in this group.
#4 I Have To Chai (Oval Express Farm) Another lady with two starts under her belt and it took both to break her maiden, which she did in her last start at LS and 7 1/2 furlongs on turf. Could be in the mix.
#5. Super Petty (Team 7 Illusions) Looked impressive winning her last start by two in a mile maiden special weight on turf at ELP. Looks like a turfer, runs like a turfer. I like her chances here.
#6 Pacino (Mo Mentum Farm) Another one looking good on turf. Won a $37.000 maiden claimer last out at WO by four. There’s no reason to think she can’t stretch that form to a mile and get a piece of the purse.
#7 Butter That Biscuit (Arkansas Elite) Broke her maiden two starts back on turf at WO, then switched to dirt and tried graded company. She finished eighth that day, but only two lengths behind the winner. Should like it better back on turf.
