Strong Field of Thirteen in KD Ladies Turf

KD Ladies Turf – Grade 3 – $750.000 Purse
KD – For Fillies and Mares 3 Years Old and Upward
One Mile – Turf
September 10, 2022

It’s hard to pick just one in this field. Hawaii County (Mb Stables) looks ready for the challenge, but it won’t be easy. Nurses (Mo Mentum Farm) should have something to say about that. She finished behind Hawaii County in the Beverly D and gets another try here. Then there’s Summers Day (Maxmillion Farms), winner of the Grade 2 CD Distaff Turf Mile two starts back. Shining Moment (RNP Stables) is also looking for a rematch after losing by a head to Summers Day in the CD Distaff Turf Mile.

Here’s the field:

#1 Hawaii County (Mb Stables) The strongest of three Mb entries. When she wins she wins decisively by three or four. Three-race winning streak ended last out in the Grade 1 Beverly D. That race was 1 3/16 mile. Should like this distance better and just might start a new streak with a win here.

#2 Nurses (Mo Mentum Farm) Won the Grade 2 Nassau two starts back and earned a 99 SRF figure, but like Hawaii County, couldn’t get it done in the Beverly D. Another one with a good shot at the winner’s circle.

#3 Summers Day (Maxmillion Farms) Won the Grade 2 CD Distaff Turf Mile two starts back. Earned a 100 SRF that day. Tried Grade 1 last start but finished off the board. Look for her close to the lead early. But can she stay there?

#4 Zin (Rock Creek) Stakes winner but is yet to get a win in graded company. Won the $200.000 Tepin in a field of three. Will face a lot tougher competition here.

#5 Fangs Of The Storm (Arindel) Has not shown much lately. Last win came in optional claiming company at WO. Will need a big effort to get a piece of the purse.

#6 Midnight Liquor (Winning Link Stables) Won the $135.000 De la Rose last start. Tough spot to try for her first win in graded company.

#7 One Skeleton (TwinTowersRacing) Comes in off a win in optional claiming company. Another one looking for her first graded win. Another one that will need a big effort to get it done.

#8 Always Condottieri (Maletto) Won the Matchmaker (G3) in wire-to-wire style last out. Probably won’t wire this field, but she could be there early and just might hold on to the end.

#9 Twisted Express (Mb Stables) Won the $200.000 Yaddo Handicap for NY breds last out. Grade 1 winner last year but hasn’t gotten back to that form this year. Don’t think she can overcome the very fast turnaround.

#10 My Girl Makita (Smokey Stover) Won the $100.000 Incredible Revenge Stakes at MTH last start. Has been close a several times at this level. Maybe this will the one that puts her in the win column.

#11 Time And Again (TwinTowersRacing) Back-to-back allowance wins before trying graded company in her last start. Finished fourth in the ONT Colleen Stakes (G3). Will need to step it up to win here.

#12 I Love Me (Mb Stables) After winning the Herecomesthebride Stakes (Grade 3) in March, hasn’t shown much but an allowance win at WO in May. Looks a bit outclassed in this group.

#14 Shining Moments (RNP Stables) Only one win this year, that in the Hillsborough Stakes (Grade 2) in March. Has been close at this level a couple of times. Earned a 100 SRF figure finishing second in the CD Distaff Turf Mile (Grade 2) behind Summers Day. Will get a rematch here and could be in the mix.
