Spinster – Grade 1 – $600.000
For Fillies and Mares Three Years Old and Upward
1 1/8 Mile – Dirt
October 9, 2022
Z Command and Laffy Crack battled through the first half of the mile and an eighth, opening amost four lengths on the field, but when Z Command finally got a head in front on the turn for home, she never looked back. She finished a length in front and punched her ticket to the BC Distaff. It’s been a very successful year for the six-year-old mare. In seven starts, she’s only finished off the board once.
Final order of finish:
#1 Z Command (Smokey Stover) Battled for the lead early, then took command on the turn for home.
#2 Forever Phooey Part (Arindel) Came from well off the pace to get place money.
#3 Fashionable (Mb Stables) Mid-pack most of the way. Made a big run in the stretch but too little too late.
#4 Shes A Super Freak (YME Stable) Even performance, held on for fourth.
#5 Drink Me Pretty (Mb Stables) Fifth but only a length behind the winner.
#6 Laffy Crack (Night Rider Stables) Contested the early pace, then faded to finish three lengths back.
#7 Wbf No Regrets (TwinTowersRacing) Made up a lot of ground from well behind but couldn’t get there
#8 Fearless Move (Asgar) Never a factor.
#9 Tell Milady (Nakamura Stables) Close early but lost ground throughout.
#10 Villeneuve (Mo Mentum Farm) Never involved.
#11 Precise Performance (Mb Stables) Lost ground to finish eleventh
#12 Starting Over (TwinTowersRacing) Last or close to last throughout.
#13 Hot Summer (D J C Racing Stables) Never a factor
#14 Mag Of (Greyfriars Stable) Trailed throughout and finished last.
Z Command is by Good Authority out of Z Broken One (Z Jinxed One). The win was her third in seven starts this year and brings her career earnings to $1,020.000. Congratulations to Z Command and Smokey Stover!
