It got a bit chalky in the Empire Distaff as the betting public sent off three horses between 7/2 and 4/1 odds, and that’s how the top three finished… Surrey, the 7/2 post time favorite, was forwardly placed to the top of the lane, took over from there and cruised home in front by a length.  The final running time was 1:481 for the mile and an eighth over the AQU main oval, labeled Fast.  Dont Eat The Fish closed well to gain the second spot, a head in front of Secret Eyes in third.  It took a photo to sort them out for the minor money and Heightened Exposure was shown to get that spot. 

Surrey is a 3yo chestnut filly by Good Authority – Revved Injen, by Cherokee Sunset, and she was bred by her owner, Smokey Stover, in NY.  This was her fourth win of the season, sixth overall and she now has lifetime earnings of $503.320.  Congrats to the Connections!

Surrey tracked the pace to the lane, moved past pace setter, won full of run.  Dont Eat The Fish very wide first turn, continued 3p down the backside while not being asked, fanned widest into the lane, out-kicked.  Secret Eyes rated back, lacked room into the lane, good late effort.  Heightened Exposure broke alertly, setting the pace to the top of the lane, nothing left for the drive.  Texas Holdem ground saving trip, lacked room into the lane, flattened out late.  Jedediah rated 3p into the lane, moved to 5p for the drive, out-finished.  Upstate tracked the pace 2p, tired.  Promising Hope was never involved.
