Down to TAM and our annual pilgrimage at Big John’s Alabama BBQ… we head out to Oldsmar for The Gaparilla Stakes and that means the streets will be packed in Ybor… oh, and where’s the Big Dog?  Anyway, back to the race at hand, let’s go to the outside post and take the near-perfect My Poor Legs as the top choice.  She was perfect before that near miss in the LCD Lassie, so can she bounce back here?  I think so.  I’ll go right next door and put the classy Doctor Quinn in the second spot.  She was third in a Grade I, so you know she can run big… Mb always has them ready, so let’s see if she can be a factor today.

Here’s The Field –

1
   Authority Figure    Tockyocky    Morales P   120   5/1

She’s run well since changing hands, breaking maiden at TUP and then winning an Alw race at GP, so she comes into this one with some momentum.  If she can keep up the current form, she could be a factor when they turn for home.

2
Fantastic Dancer    First Flight Stable    Lopez J E   120   10/1

She broke maiden at first asking, but it’s been a tough road for her since then.  She was third in the Victorian Queen Stakes, but her other starts have been up-the-track efforts, and it gets no easier here.

3
Categorical Destiny    Mb Stables    Feliciano R   120   5/1

First half of the Mb Stables entries and she broke maiden at GP last out, getting her first win in the third trip to the starting gate.  The switch from grass to the main track may be just what this one wanted, so keep an eye on her in this one.

4
All The Small Things    South Shore Stables    VillGomez H   120   8/1

Broke maiden at FP back in Jun, but her two subsequent races were less than thrilling.  She’s going to need to wake up if she wants to be part of this one.

5
   Baronica    Royalty Stables    Wenc I C   120   6/1

Broke maiden at WO back in Oct, then only beat one in that Alw race at FG… but, she did press the pace in that race and that was vs. some nice horses.  Can she return to the races and be a factor today?

6
   Doctor Quinn    Mb Stables    Gallardo A A   120   7/2

Second half of the Mb Stables entry and she’s a tough one to figure out.  She broke maiden in her first start after being purchased, then was fifth in the Spinaway (GI) and third in the Alcibiades (GI) before tiring late to be up-the-track on BC Day.  She came back to be fourth vs. Alw types at GP, so she needs to find some of that old magic.

7
My Poor Legs    Mojica Racing    Ferrer J C   122   5/2

Five wins from six starts and her only blemish was a last-out runner-up race in the LCD Lassie where she closed a late gap to be a quarter-length back on the wire.  She owes the barn nothing after being claimed for a mere $10.000, but I’m sure they’d be happy to take another big win today.
