The Jaipur – Grade 1 – $400.000
BEL – 6 Furlongs – Turf
For Three Year Olds And Upward
June 10, 2023
Albaquirky came from off the pace to win the Jaipur in near track record time and punched his ticket to the BC Turf Sprint in the process. The five-year-old gelding broke slowly and settled into last place for the first half of the six furlongs. Creepy Rocky Party and Devil Made Me Doit vied for the early lead for the first half mile. Creepy Rocky Party took a half-length lead and American Grandeur moved up to challenge for second. Meanwhile, the inevitable winner was still dead last, but he moved to the far outside at the head of the stretch for his run. And what a run it was. He passed all seven rivals like they were standing still and pulled away by a length over American Grandeur and Creepy Rocky Party who dead heated for second.
Complete Order of Finish:
1 Albaquirky (Santan Stables) Made a dramatic last to first run to win by a length.
2 American Grandeur (TwinTowersRacing) Battled Creepy Rocky Party for three furlongs to tie for second.
3 Creepy Rocky Party (Mb Stables) Battled American Grandeur for three furlongs to tie for second.
4 Golden Charm (D J C Racing Stables) Steady performance to finish fourth.
5 Sarah Parker In Snow (Rock Creek) Steady performance to finish fifth.
6 Brighter Days Ahead (Luz International) Never a factor.
7 Devil Made Me Doit (Maxmillion Farm) Led early, faded to seventh.
8 Artesianic (Mo Mentum Farm) Never a factor.
It was the eighth win in seventeen starts for the five-year-old son of Through The Tulips x Sarah Jessica Parker (On High Alert). The win brings his career earnings to $908.880. Congratulations to Albaquirky and Santan Stables!
