Acqua, from Off the Pace, Takes The FL Oaks

The FL Oaks Grade 3 at 1 mile and16th

It sounds like the weather in Tampa Bay was perfect for a day of racing! I’m glad that the turf course was in great condition too. How did the field of seven do in the race?

Interesting race! It sounds like Smoking Shimmer got off to a great start and was able to maintain a comfortable lead for the majority of the race. It’s always impressive to see a horse able to run a quick time while still appearing relaxed on the lead. It seems like the trainer MB Stables and jockey P Lopez had a solid plan going into the race and executed it well.

As Magic Dust and Iffy followed the consistent speed, the rest of the field followed.

Swinging to the top of the stretch Smoking Shimmer turned for home, trying to make every pole a winning one. Inching closer was Magic Dust. Backing up on the inside was Iffy. Making a huge run was Acqua.

Three horses with a shot: Magic Dust trying with everything. The leader throughout was Smoking Shimmer, the wire inching closer, and on the outside the explosive run continues, its Acqua, making the lead in the final strides to take the Grade 3 FL Oaks!

Congratulations to the connections MB Stables.
